Where are you located? How far will you travel for weddings/portraits?

I live in Decatur, Georgia and service the general metro Atlanta area but I’ll go wherever! I love traveling and am totally down to go wherever the stellar weddings or portrait opportunities are. Currently on my wishlist (favorite places to shoot!): Saint Augustine Florida, San Francisco California, Alaska, Texas, Las Vegas, Montana, Colorado, Seattle, Utah, Portland Oregon. Contact me to discuss.

What is your photographic style?

My images focus primarily on emotion and the beauty of intimate human interaction—the way a groom holds his new bride against himself as the warm sun sets behind them, the tenderness a mother’s eyes hold as she gazes through shining eyes at her daughter on her wedding day… the flowergirl sitting in the back of the church happily shredding the petals she’s supposed to throw. These things are what make us human and what life is really all about… it’s the little stuff that comes together to create the bigger picture. It’s love and adventure and happiness and definitely silliness, too. I am fascinated by images that tell a story or ask a question. Images that are more than just a soulless technically correct portrait. After all, there’s no soul to perfection. Stylistically, I like wide spaces, clean lines, interesting textures, nature and city alike. I just love exploring and seeing where a love story takes me! It only needs to go to one place as far as I’m concerned: to beautiful, unique photographs.

Do you offer prints?

Yes. It's easy to purchase prints from the gallery I send out with every booking.

What about albums?

Yes, I offer gorgeous linen/canvas albums and can show you samples at our consultation.

What equipment/camera/lenses do you use?

I shoot with Canon 5D cameras and a variety of the highest quality L series Canon lenses.

How many photos do you get from a wedding coverage?

Typically I deliver an average of 65 images per contracted hour.

Do we get edited digital copies of our images?

Yes, all of my image collections include high resolution digital negatives, which allow you to create prints either at home or at your local camera store. Images are edited in a natural and minimal way. While I retain all copyrights to the images, a personal use license is included allowing you to create as many prints as you’d like and post your images on Facebook/Instagram to your heart’s content!

How long does it take for the images to be finished and ready for viewing?

My typical turnaround time for wedding imagery is 6-12 weeks and for portraits it's 2-4 weeks. Portrait sessions are delivered via digital download. Weddings get online gallery viewing/download + a USB of all the photographs too.

On a wedding day, do you shoot from a shot list?

No, never. It quells creativity and takes away from the day in my experience. I ask my clients to please provide family names and wedding party names and any special shots out of the ordinary they would like, but otherwise, I have it locked down and we don’t need to worry about making a monotonous checklist of pictures! Let the day unfold and trust that I will be capturing it as it does. Let natural, real moments happen instead of forcing a lot of gimmicky poses and ideas.

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes. River West Photography is a licensed business with full liability insurance through Professional Photographers of America. Many venues require this liability insurance on photographers.

How do I book you for my wedding?

I require a deposit of half of your total signed for amount, and your autograph on the dotted line. After that, I’m all yours!

How do I book you for portraits?

I take a limited amount of portrait/family sessions per year - this allows me to create something genuine, heartfelt, and authentic for you. No photo factory stuff or Pinterest fodder here, so please give me details of your photo plans and we can decide if our styles/visions are a match! Then if everything sounds good, we can compare calendars! Also heads up: Due to seasonal factors, I'm not always able to book portrait sessions in the busiest months of the year (May/June/October).
